“The Working Class” School-to-Work Transition One of the purposes of the CE2 Program is to assist the students in the difficult process of transition from a school setting to a work setting. Students at CE2 choose a Career Endorsement Area and then are given the opportunity to explore job sites in that career area. They gain hands-on experience in filling out job applications and interviews and learn work ethics, such as punctuality and dependability. After exploring several jobs, students choose one for a learning level position, which allows them to integrate their job skills with their academic skills through projects. All CE2 students are required to participate in CE2 approved job sites. Graduation Requirements CE2 students graduate with their class at MHS. They receive a standard diploma, which meets all state requirements, all school district requirements, and all CE2 requirements for graduation. Each student is required to have regular class attendance and satisfactory completion of “required” and “elective” classes. Students are required to have earned a minimum of 31 credits to be allowed to enter the program. CE2 students complete Certificate of Initial Mastery (CIM) testing as required by current district policy. Grades At CE2, we have a non-graded curriculum. Students earn units for work completed with a minimum accuracy of 85%. It takes 50 units to earn one credit. Approximately 20% of the material for their credits is from doing work books, 20% is written reports, 20% is project based, 20% is computer aided instruction, and 20% is earned on the job sites. Every week, Learning Managers prepare a progress report called a WAG (Week At a Glance). This document shows the student just what they have completed for that period, how many units of production (or credits) they have earned, and how many they still have to earn. When Marshfield sends progress reports home, we send a WAG home to our student’s parents. Activities CE2 students participate in all activities at Marshfield High School. We have had students on the football, swimming, basketball, softball and wrestling teams, on the Cheerleading Squad and in the Band and Choir. When special events occur at MHS, CE2 students are encouraged to go and participate. Our students are issued a student body card, which admits them to all dances and games and to many other special events. We encourage all CE2 students to be active in the clubs and activities available at MHS. |

CE2 has been an alternative program for Marshfield High School juniors and seniors since 1980. CE2 is particularly suited for students who are able to integrate classroom academics with on-the-job learning experiences in the community. Many students in CE2 have found limited success or interest in the regular school program, but have a fair degree of self direction, are able to work independently and assume responsibility for their actions. CE2 uses the workplace as a model. Admission is by application and approval of a CE2 Screening Committee. Enrollment is limited to approximately 40 students.
